Title: Monkey Bread Abm
Categories: Breadmaker
Yield: 24 Rolls

DOUGH
1/2tbYeast
3cFlour
3/4tsSalt
1/2cSugar
2 Eggs
1/4cButter; softened
1/4cWater; warm
1/2cMilk
TOPPING
3/4cSugar, brown
1/2cCurrants
1/2cButter
  Tube pan

Bring dough ingredients to room temperature and add to breadmaker, in order. Set machine to "Sweet bread, manual" and press Start.

Remove dough from machine 5 minutes after second kneading. Turn out onto a floured board and again shape into a ball. Let rest another 5-10 minutes.

Butter 10" tube pan. In saucepan, melt topping ingredients. Pinch off enough dough to make golf-sized balls. Roll balls in mixture, coating them well. Put coated balls into tube pan. Line bottom, then layer balls in loose layers. Once you have used all the dough, pour remaining mixture over top of dough balls. Cover pan with foil tent.

Allow dough to rise until pan is full. Preheat oven to 375 and bake for an hour. It may take a minute or two longer. Tap bread to test for doneness - it should sound hollow. The bread may brown more than you'd like on top, but that side will be turned down when bread is served, so it doesn't really matter.

Unmold bread and allow to cool completely before slicing. If you would rather, it can be served warm and pulled apart.

Tested in DAK R2D2. Sylvia's comments: this isn't quite as complicated as it looks, but it requires more work than the typical throw-it-in-the-pan recipe. The dough was just a bit liquid-y looking, but I'm not sure I'd reduce the liquid, as it worked just fine. The "pinch off" instruction is a joke; I used a clean pair of kitchen scissors to cut strips, then cut the strips into small chunks, then rolled the chunks in the topping mixture. Since it was going to rise anyway, I figured the cut edges would disappear, and they did. I couldn't find a disposable tube pan, so used a 10" very deep cake pan. It took over 2 hours to rise properly; I had to take it along to the Bible study unbaked and bake it there. (It was almost overdone at 50 minutes.) Then we pulled it apart per instructions fresh out of the oven, and the unanimous opinion was "yummy!"
